Notifications cannot be configured from MEX Ops, but another user with access to MEX can set up email notifications for your account.
There are a few steps to setting up email notifications.
The first step is to ensure the SMTP settings for your account are configured correctly. To check this, navigate to the Notifications tab of User Options (three horizontal lines in the top right > Options > Notifications tab), and ensure the user to set up has been selected in the ‘Options for’ drop-down at the top, as displayed below.
- Ensure that all SMTP settings in this screen (SMTP Name, Use SSL toggle, SMTP Username, SMTP Password) match the configuration of your organisation’s Simple Mail Transfer Protocol servers. If using MEX’s email servers would be preferred, all four fields may be left blank.
- Ensure that a ‘From Address’ has been set. This is the address that email notifications from MEX will be displayed as having been sent from. If you are unsure what to set this to, we recommend defaulting to noreply@mex.com.au.
- Enter the user’s email address into the ‘Enter Test Email Address’ field, and click ‘Send Test Email’ to determine whether the SMTP settings have been configured correctly. If an email is successfully sent to the address entered, your account’s SMTP settings have been configured correctly and you may proceed to the next step. If the email is not received, double-check the above steps and try again.
After SMTP settings have been correctly set up, the user’s notification settings will need to be configured. This can be done from the MEX User Notifications page of the user’s Contact Details page (MEX Main Menu > Control Files > Security Users > select the user from the list > Details > MEX User Notifications tab).
- Ensure that the ‘Is Enabled’ and ‘Email Notification’ boxes have both been checked for all rows the user would like to receive notifications for (as well as ‘Push Notification’, if the user has MEX Mobile installed and would like to receive push notifications).
- Each notification can be customised further by selecting the notification in the list, clicking the ‘Details’ button in the bottom left, and applying filters as desired. For example, a user may wish to change the ‘Notify Me For’ field to only display notifications for requests they have created. This screen also allows for further filtering of these notifications, varying depending on the notification being customised.
Please also ensure the user’s email address has been entered correctly on the Details page of the user’s Contact Details page.
To test if a notification has been set up correctly, return to the user’s MEX User Notifications tab, select the notification to be tested, and use the ‘Send Test Notification’ button.
