MEX Ops is a web page that can be used in conjunction with the MEX CMMS. Using the MEX Ops web page users can enter Requests for maintenance which are then acted upon in MEX by the appropriate persons. MEX Ops can also be used to check on the status of entered Requests as they progress through the MEX system.
Desktop and Application Mode
MEX Ops can be used in two modes; "Desktop" and "Application". The Desktop mode is more suitable for use on a PC or laptop, whereas the Application mode configures itself according to the screen size of the device which makes it more suitable for use on a mobile device. When a user accesses MEX Ops, the software will determine the screen size of the device that it is running on and will choose the appropriate mode. The user can override this choice using the "Desktop Mode" switch in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

What Are Maintenance Requests?
When a person wishes the maintenance department to carry out some kind of activity then he can enter a "Request" into MEX Ops. This Request must include:
- The name of the person making the Request.
- A description of the task being carried out.
Optionally a person can also enter (among other things):
- The Asset that the task is to be performed on.
- The Department that the Request is to be handled by.
Once a Request has been recorded in MEX the maintenance department may then process the Request as follows:
- A user enters a Maintenance Request into MEX. It may be directly entered into MEX, or the MEX Ops web page may be used.
- A notification of the Maintenance Request is emailed to a pre-configured list of MEX users. This list will typically include the MEX users that are authorised to approve Maintenance Requests.
- An authorised officer will log on to MEX and view the Request. The Request may be either approved or cancelled. If the Request is approved a Work Order may be generated from it.
- The Work Orders is completed by the maintenance staff as per usual.
- When the Work Order is closed off to History, the Request will automatically close itself off as complete. The status of the Request is linked to the status of any Work Order created from the Request.
The Maintenance Requests Process
Using the MEX Ops web page, people can:
- Enter Maintenance Requests.
- Check on the progress of their request by simply opening the request list and viewing the details of their Request.
This saves them having to contact the Maintenance Department directly to follow up on any maintenance work that they requested and allows the maintenance department to get on with maintenance.
Logging On to MEX Ops
One of the options for MEX Ops is to enable security. This means that when a user accesses the MEX Ops web page, he will be asked to provide a user name and password to log on. When security is enabled:
- When a Request is created, MEX Ops will assume that the Request or Requisition is being entered for the logged on user and the user's details will be automatically entered onto the Request. These details can be overwritten if you are entering a Request or Requisition for another user.
- When you access the Requests Listing by default only your own Requests/Requisitions will be displayed. You can use the listing's Range function to view other user's Requests if necessary.
If security is not turned on for MEX Ops then users will not be asked to log in when they access the web page and any new Requests or Requisitions will automatically have the Admin user's details added to them (which can be overwritten).
