The Reports Control File is the main screen for the management of your MEX reports. From this screen:
•New Reports can be created.
•The design of existing reports can be accessed and edited.
•Reports can be imported from Microsoft Access.
•Reports can be backed up to an XML file.
•Reports can be restored from an XML file.
•Accidentally deleted reports can be restored.
The Reports Control File
To access the Reports Control File:
1.In the MEX Main Menu, click on the "Control Files" button to open up the Control Menu.
2.In the bottom left-hand corner of the Control Menu, click on the "Control Files" button to display the Control Files Listing.
3.The available Control Files are displayed in a list on the left-hand side of the screen. Locate and select "Reports".
Buttons in The Reports Control File
The following buttons are found on the Reports Control File:
New
Clicking on the "New" button will open up a blank "Report Details" screen to enter the details of a new report into. This is the first step in the report creation process. Refer to the Creating New Reports section for more information on creating MEX reports.
Details
Selecting a report in the listing and clicking on the "Details" button will open up the Report Details screen for the selected report.
Duplicate
Selecting a report in the listing and clicking on the "Duplicate" button will create a copy of the selected report in the listing. This copy can then be edited without affecting the original copy of the report. The new report will be named "<COPY> -Name of Existing Report" i.e. if you were to duplicate the "Accident Listing Report", the name of the duplicate would be "<Copy> -Accident Listing Report".
Delete
Selecting a report in the listing and clicking on the "Delete" button will remove the selected report form the system. If you accidentally delete a report it can be re-instated by importing the report's backup XML file.
Export Report XML
When a report is selected form the list and the "Export Report XML" button is clicked on, the selected report is exported to an external XML file. Refer to the "Backing Up and Restoring Reports" section for more information.
Import Report From XML
If you have a report that has been exported to an XML file, then clicking on this button will open up a file browser that will allow you to locate and select the XML file, which will import the report into the system. Refer to the "Backing Up and Restoring Reports" section for more information.
Restore Selected Report From XML
If you have edited a standard report, then this feature will allow you to return the report to its original state. Refer to the "Backing Up and Restoring Reports" section for more information.
Report Library
The Report Library button is located in the top right-hand corner of the Control File. Clicking on this button will display the Report Library, which is a list of the standard reports provided in MEX. You can select a report from this list and import it into your system, which will install the selected report in its default state. This is useful for the occasions where you have edited one of the standard reports and wish to return it to its original state.
